Snowberry

Snowberry is the plant you notice first in our garden in autumn: just as the leaves start to yellow, the branches fill with clusters of small white berries that look like a dusting of snow.

We only cut what is going out that day and stand it straight in buckets of water. Some stems are longer, some berries sit closer together — they are simply the way they grew.

  • Bunch: 15 stems, 50–70 cm long
  • Season: roughly February to April, once the berries turn white
  • Vase life: about 7–14 days, longer with a little care
  • Good for: bouquets, weddings and events, a jug on the kitchen table

The berries are not edible — please keep them away from small children and pets.

Once they arrive

A little care buys you another week

Every stem is cut the day it leaves us. Two minutes of care when they arrive makes them last much longer in the vase.

  1. 01

    Cut on an angle

Trim 2–3 cm off the bottom at an angle so the stem drinks more. Woody stems can also be split about 2 cm up the middle.

  2. 02

    Strip leaves below the water

Leaves sitting in water rot quickly. Pull off everything below the waterline and the water stays clean for days.

  3. 03

    Fresh water every 2–3 days

When you change the water, snip a little more off the stems — a fresh cut drinks better.

  4. 04

    Keep them cool

Keep them out of direct sun, away from heaters and the fruit bowl — ripening fruit gives off ethylene, which ages flowers faster.
