Orchard picking · Tree-ripened, honey-sweet figs

Step into the sun-drenched orchard and pick figs directly from the branches, experiencing a freshness and sweetness only found when consumed right off the tree.

The best moment to enjoy a fig is often right when it's on the branch – it won't get any sweeter after being picked, so "hand-picking" is the only way to taste it at its sweetest. Under the fig trees at Pude, free-range chickens roam leisurely, helping us weed, control pests, loosen the soil, and fertilize; without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, this natural cycle keeps the land fertile. We'll teach you how to spot a fig that's "just right."

Fee Structure (Entry Fee + Weigh-Out)

  • Entry fee is per person (see ticket options below), including a small amount of fresh-picked tasting.
  • Fruits taken out will be paid for by weight upon exit: Figs approx. A$20 / kg (prices are subject to on-site confirmation).

Opening Season and Hours

Late summer to early autumn (approx. February – April), Friday to Sunday 09:00–15:00 (last entry 14:00). Fig ripening is concentrated and the season is short, so please check "This Week's Fruit Status" or make an appointment before coming.

Picking Tips

  • We recommend wearing long sleeves and gloves (the white sap from fig branches and leaves may irritate the skin).
  • Gently support the fruit body and fold it slightly upward at the stem; ripe fruits are very soft, avoid squeezing.
  • Choose fruits that are plump, soft, slightly drooping, slightly cracked at the top, and emit a sweet fragrance.
  • Transport in a shallow box/basket to avoid stacking; consume on the same day if possible.

Important Notes

The orchard may be temporarily closed due to bad weather or if fruits crack after rain; please be considerate of the fruit trees and free-range animals, and take your trash with you. For groups/private bookings, please contact us in advance. Can't make it to the orchard? You can also order fresh figs for home delivery.

Why do we insist on natural farming?

Perhaps you've noticed that the fruit we eat today, while looking vibrantly red, has a hard and crisp texture when bitten into. It's sweet, but lacks freshness. The fruits are getting bigger, their colors more perfect, they're juicy and sweet enough, but they've lost that rich aroma and layered flavor that lingers in your memory.

The answer lies in modern agriculture's pursuit of "efficiency": the use of chemical fertilizers and various chemicals within a reasonable range. Chemical fertilizers enable fruit to grow rapidly and double yields; those "reasonable" chemicals ensure fruit doesn't spoil during transport, looks good, and stays fresh longer . . . .

We now have access to fruit year-round, but we've lost the unique surprises of each season.
We've achieved flawless appearances, but we've lost the true soul that touches our taste buds.

This is why we insist on using the most traditional methods to cultivate the flavors of our memories.

The path of natural farming is arduous, every step of the way.

Choosing not to use chemical pesticides and fertilizers means:

  • Lower yields, but each fruit is a gift from nature
  • Manual weeding replaces herbicides, and calloused hands attest to the purity of every inch of land
  • Pest and disease control is more difficult, requiring more effort and wisdom
  • Increased costs and reduced profits, but a clear conscience is priceless

Our Natural Fertilizer Repository

The farm insists on 100% natural fertilizers, each a cycle of nature:

  • Plant ash - Made from burning dead branches and leaves on the farm, rich in potassium
  • Sheep manure - From local pastures, fully composted, providing comprehensive nutrition
  • Compost - Carefully made from kitchen waste, fruit peels, and animal manure, a natural factory for microorganisms
  • Seaweed fertilizer - An essence from the ocean, rich in trace elements
